Taliban will not negotiate with Kabul government: Taliban

After the US and Taliban peace deal, the Afghan militant organization is to initiate negotiations with the Kabul government. Signs of disruption to this negotiation process have begun to appear.

Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement made it clear that he would not negotiate with the Kabul government team as it was not a representative delegation consisting of different factions. The Taliban statement has been described as a setback for a deal with the United States. The talks will be held in the Norwegian capital Oslo.
Taliban spokesman also said that the formation of a delegation on representatives of various Afghan groups is part of the deal to begin with them. An Afghan spokesperson issued a statement Saturday, March 28, refusing to participate in the negotiations. The Kabul government has not yet reacted to this new development.
The Kabul government announced a twenty-one-member team on Friday, March 27, to hold broader peace talks with the Afghan Taliban. The negotiation team also includes five women. The delegation was also praised by US Representative Zalmay Khalilzad, who negotiated a peace deal with the Taliban. Zalmay Khalilzad has called the negotiating team comprehensive.
Experts and analysts call the talks between the Kabul government's representative team and the Taliban crucial for the establishment of comprehensive peace in Afghanistan. The same dialogue process is tied to peace in Afghanistan as well as the formation of a sustainable government. The talks have shown the possibility of a weakening of the deal with the United States.
So far the Taliban has refused to start talks with the administration of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. Following the formation of the negotiating team, it was thought that the Kabul government and the Taliban were in a position to sit at a table. The peace deal between the United States and the Taliban was settled on February 29 in Doha, the capital of the Gulf state of Qatar.
One of the major reasons for the delay in these talks is the collapse of the serious power created in Afghanistan. Along with Ashraf Ghani, Abdullah Abdullah also claims the presidency. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has also failed to alleviate this tense situation.
