Ben Cutting’s unbeaten 42 runs in 17-balls lead Quetta Gladiators to chase successfully the given target.
Islamabad United gave target of 188 runs which was
chased by Quetta Gladiators with the margin of five wickets. Jason Roy and
Surfaraz Ahmed set the base for victory and Ben Cutting gave his 100% to ensure
the winning position of Gladiators.
In first 14- overs Islamabad united was playing very
good. Islamabad was at 140 with the loss of four wickets. Colin Ingram was
playing at 42 runs and Asif Ali came as a fresh batsman. Both batsmen put their
efforts to build a good partnership but Islamabad United’s wickets start
falling frequently. In three-overs they
lost three wickets and only 33 runs were added to the score board in last five-overs.
Quetta Gladiators lost Shane Wats in the beginning of
their chase which put a little burden on Gladiators. Jason Roy 50-runs proved a
strong support for Gladiators in their way towards victory. Ahmed Shehzad and
Azam Khan tried but they did not last for a long time in field. The Captain of
Gladiators Sarfaraz scored 33 by 20 balls. Roy smashed six fours and two sixes
and enable Gladiators to cross 100 in 12th over.
In 16th over Sarfaraz was caught by
Islamabad United and Ben Cutting took the charge. In 17th over he
scored 11 runs against Rumman Raees and then in 18th over bowled by
Faheem Ashraf, Cutting add 17 runs in the score board. Now Quetta Gladiator
needed 16 runs in 12 balls. In 20th over Cutting ended the game with
two sixes.
With this victory Quetta Gladiators became the winner
of three out of four games played up till now by Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2020.
Quetta Gladiators gained top position of tournament point table.
