5th time Australia become the Champion of Women’s T20 World Cup



Australia is celebrating their fifth Women T20 world Cup title played on International Women’s Day.


Women’s T20 World Cup final was held at the Melboume Cricket Ground between four time champions Team Australia and Team India. In Australia it was the biggest ever crowded women’s sporting event with crowd of 86,174 fans in Melboume Cricket Stadium.

Australia won the toss and Captain Meg Lanning decided to bat first. Opener Healy won the title of Player of the match by scoring 79 runs from 39 balls including fifty in 30 balls. Beth Mooney won the title of Player of the tournament scored 78 runs in final match.

Australia set the target of 184 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. In chase of 184 all Team India got out at 99 runs. Harmanpreet kaur performed well but it was not her day and she was caught by Jonassen.
Meg Lenning Australian Captain declared this tournament best of the previous four titles. Player of the tournament Beth Mooney said, “ It’s probably something I’ll look back on in 10 years’ time, for me and everyone there it’ll probably be one of those things where you say: ‘were you there when we broke the record for the most watched female game in Australia?’.”
