Squash player died of COVID-19 at London’s Ealing
Hospital.
Last week Azam khan was
tested positive with Corona Virus and after fighting with COVID-19 for a whole the week he died at the age of 95 in Landon.
Legendary Hashim Khan
was the elder brother of Azam Kahn. From 1959 to 1962 Hashim Khan was the consecutive
winner of British Open. In 1962 Azam Khan appeared last time in Squash
professional circuit. He also appeared the first time in the US Open hardball tournament.
He got retired from professional squash due to Achilles tendon injury.
Once he told about his retirement
in an interview that his Achilles injury healed soon but the death of his 14-year
old son scattered him completely and he completely lost his interest in squash
and that was the reason that he never return to the professional circuit.
Azam Khan was born in a village
near Peshawar name Nawakille and in 1956 he had settled in the UK. For all most 50
years he ran a popular squash club namely the New Grampians Squash club established
by him in Sheperd’s Bush London.
Azam Khan stopped
playing squash due to osteoarthritis over a decade ago.
