On Tuesday, April 7, the Supreme Court reversed the decision to grant bail to the inmates because of Karuna, while the petition was declared as permissible under 184 (3).
The Supreme Court dismissed the bail granted in serious crime, NAB and drug cases, while the Attorney General approved the recommendations.
According to the decision, it will be possible to release the disabled and sick persons who have been sentenced to less than three years. There will also be a prisoner who has not been fined, while women and children who have completed 75% of the sentence will remain. Women and child prisoners whose sentences last less than a year will also be released.
The court ruled that those who tortured women and children would remain in jail.
It should be noted that the Islamabad High Court and Sindh High Court have ordered the release of prisoners due to the Karuna virus.
